| There are a number of restrictions and rules for submitting content to MI Streamnet. Read through the rules below and click the 'Agree' button at the bottom of the page to reach the online event submission form. |
| Content restrictions for MI Streamnet 1. Consistency with the REMC Association’s Goals and Mission Content for live streaming or video on demand hosting must be consistent with the REMC Association’s goals and mission. Content with the broadest possible impact will be considered most favorably. 2. Content must have a broad impact Events that cover topics of statewide or regional relevance are appropriate. Trainings specifically for individual school districts are not appropriate for this statewide project. Your local REMC may be able to host such an event on their webspace. 3. Content must be non-commercial in nature Events must not be tied to specific non-government vendors in promoting their products or paid services. Some non-government agencies, such as Colonial Williamsburg or the Detroit Zoo, may present educational material but not sell their services. 4. Content must pertain to education Since MI Streamnet is funded and maintained by educational entities, content is limited to education. 5. There is a cost associated with posting your event There is generally a small charge to the content originator for posting content on MI Streamnet. The MI Streamnet project manager, Ken Schramm, will contact you to determine your cost. REMC members have special rules to this effect (see below). 6. Live events must be broadcast from pre-determined locations Currently, REMC 20 (Wayne Country RESA) and the Michigan Department of Education are setup as the two main broadcast points for events. Other locations within the MichNet backbone can serve as broadcast points, but that will require MI Streamnet staff approval and preparation. Special Rules for REMC members Since MI Streamnet is primarily funded by the REMC Association of Michigan, all REMC centers (and ISD/ESA's) have a few exceptions to the rules. 1. REMC's may post events at no charge on MI Streamnet If you would like to post your event on MI Streamnet, have your local REMC director send your request to the MI Streamnet Project Manager. 2. REMC centers can be setup as broadcast points Most REMC centers are on the MichNet Backbone, and can be setup to broadcast Live events. Doing so will still require approval and preparation time. Submitting Pre-produced On-Demand Content MI Streamnet staff will encode your event into an uncompressed DV format for digital archiving, and then into a streaming format for On Demand viewing. You can send edited, complete programs to the MI Streamnet staff in the following formats: DVD, BetaCam, Digital-S (D9), DV-Cam, and MiniDV. Please note your format in the 'Additional Notes' field on your form. An MI Streamnet administrator will contact you with shipping information once your event is confirmed. |
